Citric and lactic acid are also used for descaling application and yes, they are indeed safer to use than
mineral acids like Hcl.
However, both citric and lactic acid is slow to act and while a weaker organic it can still be corrosive to
metals. Citric acid can be a minor skin irritant, causing itchy skin and even minor burns to those that are
sensitive to it. Hands should be washed immediately if citric acid comes into contact with bare skin.
Lactic acid can also cause eye and skin burns.
Both products, separately or together will still products exothermic reactions and CO2 fumes.
Be very wary of descalers that may use these products but not indicate any toxic levels and claim than
no know effects on the products. After all, why would anyone use a products without complete testing
and unknown effects?
