Both Alpha Descaler and Alpha Descaler FG are approximately equivalent in their capacity to dissolve
scale to competitive formulations using 10% HCl. Typically mineral acid suppliers will keep
concentrations of their Hcl products under 10% claiming greater safety in shipping and handling.
Alpha Descaler will remove approximately 2 pounds of scale per US gallon. Alpha Descaler FG will
remove approximately 2.5 pounds of scaler per US gallon.
Extra Strength versions of Alpha Descaler and Alpha Descaler FG will remove 60% more scale. As the
composition of scale can vary, only an approximation can be provided.
A more accurate comparison is that Alpha Descaler will remove the same as 10% Hcl with extra additives
for cleaning and Alpha Descaler FG will remove the same as 10% Hcl without those extra additives.
Alpha Descaler Extra Strength will remove the same as 30% Hcl with extra additives for cleaning and
Alpha Descaler FG Extra Strength will remove the same as 30% Hcl without those extra additives.
